Our Love Story

Yasmin and James met on the school bus on the first day of their freshman year of high school in 2014. They were 14 and 13 years old, respectively, and their parents had known each other for years as members of their local community in Teaneck, New Jersey. No one could have anticipated that after that day on the school bus, Yasmin and James would embark on a journey of love, success, and happiness that would span over a decade, with their souls intertwined as high school sweethearts.

Their high school years at Dwight Englewood School were marked not only by academic pursuits but also by a budding friendship that would shape their futures. From James’s attendance at Yasmin’s Sweet Sixteen to working on problem sets together in their AP Calculus class, the two became great friends. Through shared laughter, late-night study sessions, group projects, and plenty of FaceTime calls, Yasmin and James found solace in each other's company, forming a bond that transcended the confines of the classroom.

Senior year came quickly, and after a class trip to the Bahamas, James and Yasmin’s relationship took on new dimensions. James asked Yasmin to be his girlfriend on May 1, 2018, just one month before their high school graduation. Yasmin was accepted to Cornell University, and James to the University of Pennsylvania. The prospect of being apart was daunting, but they promised to stay together despite the distance. They spent that summer creating memories they hoped would sustain them through their journeys at their respective colleges.

College life was busy and challenging. Yasmin immersed herself in her studies in economics and finance, while James pursued his passion for health care and business. They kept in touch through phone calls, texts, and visits during breaks throughout the school year. Though their love endured, the physical distance tested their relationship. There were moments of doubt and longing, but they both believed in their future together. Four years passed in a whirlwind and they stayed together and grew deeper in love. Upon graduating from the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University at the top of their classes, James and Yasmin embarked on the next chapter of their lives with hearts full of hope and anticipation. Yasmin accepted a job at a prestigious asset management firm in New York City, and James secured a position at a leading management consulting firm in the same city. The excitement of starting their careers was heightened by the prospect of finally being together in the same city again. A year and a half after beginning their careers in New York City and embarking on their journey with God, James knew in his heart that after five beautiful years together, Yasmin was the one for him.

By November 2023, James had asked both of Yasmin's parents for her hand in marriage, and he had bought her the perfect ring. To surprise Yasmin, James worked closely with the hotel in Turks and Caicos to orchestrate a proposal that would surpass all expectations, weaving in elements of romance, surprise, and excitement. The couple is known for their vacation photos, so James decided to schedule a vacation photo shoot at the resort as a cover for the proposal. On December 19, 2023, after a rainy morning, lots of convincing, and James thinking on his feet, the skies cleared and the photo shoot began. What started as a normal photo shoot developed into a beautiful moment to remember, as the photographer led the couple to a garden on the resort, with rose petals, champagne, live music, and a line-up of lighted marquee letters spelling "Will You Marry Me?" James got on one knee and asked Yasmin to be his wife, and she tearfully said, "Yes!" completely overcome with emotion. The couple proceeded to take photos in the garden and then on the beach before watching the sunset and taking in this moment that they wanted to last forever. On May 31, 2025, the young couple is eager to enter the next step in their profound love story, as they say their "I do's" and become husband and wife surrounded by their closest friends and family.
